There are four variables you could adjust:
Reprice clients — Are your prices high enough?
Reduce clients — Do you need to disengage to shed workload?
Get work done more efficiently — Could better systems or tighter processes ease some pressure?
Hire someone to absorb the overflow — Would the right kind of help give you breathing room?
In most cases, a simple combination of repricing and reducing client load is the best first move.
It helps lighten your workload while keeping your revenue steady (or even growing).
I usually don’t recommend focusing on efficiency (#3) right away — you can’t streamline your way out of too many clients or too-low prices.
And I don’t recommend hiring (#4) until the core overwork problem is solved — otherwise, you’ll add finding, hiring, training, managing, and leading a human to an already full plate.
Start with 1 and 2. It will make 3 and 4 easier — and far more effective.
