The brain just wants to be right #2

Yesterday, I wrote about how the brain doesn’t care what it’s right about; it just wants to be right.

If you tell your brain:

I work too much

I work more than I want to

I have to work these crazy hours

There’s no other way

I need to suck it up

This is how it is in accounting

This is what we do in tax season

Tax season is busy

Tax season is stressful

Clients are disorganized

Clients don’t get me their stuff on time

.

.

.

Your brain will find a way to make these things true because

it wants to be right.

.

.

.

With the above thoughts, you will:

work too much

work more than you want to

not find another way

suck it up

continue making it how it is

do it the way it’s done in accounting

do it the way it’s done in tax season

have a busy tax season

have a stressful tax season

have disorganized clients

have clients who don’t get you their stuff on time

The brain wants to be right.

.

.

.

Decide what you want your brain to be right about.

And tell it to go find ways to be right about that.
