People-pleasing is not a business strategy #2

Yesterday I dropped this line:
So upsetting, so freeing.

Here’s what I meant.

So upsetting:
$hit! What do I do if I can’t hang my identity on being a people-pleaser?!
If I don’t earn esteem and praise by making other people happy?
Who even am I if I’m not the one who keeps everyone else comfortable?
How will I be a valuable human?!

Oh… wait.
You mean I’m not responsible for other people’s happiness?
Holy crap. I don’t have to carry that anymore?
You mean I can just say what I need to say and let them deal?

(Well, add some grace, but pretty much, yeah.)

THE FREEDOM.

Freeing yourself and your accounting firm from people-pleasing will change everything.
