"Won't my clients be nervous about conflict of interest, if I niche into an industry?"

"Won't my clients be nervous about conflict of interest if I niche into an industry? What if they think I’ll share trade secrets?”

Clients are nervous about competition but are petrified of their incompetence regarding money.

Their petrify outweighs their nervous.

You think your client will think, “He’ll share my best practices, and my competition will beat me!”

But your client thinks, “Thank goodness. He understands my industry and will give me specific guidance to help make me more profitable.”

If you genuinely believe you would be working with two businesses in direct competition and that makes you uncomfortable, take a pass on working with the second one.

Moreover, if clients didn’t trust you or were concerned about your ethics, they wouldn’t be talking to you.
