6 ways to work less
If you’re working more hours a week than you want for the money you make,
here are six variables you can play with to begin solving the problem:
Disengage – create space to think clearly and capitalize on bigger opportunities
Delegate – proactively send your work down the line
Optimize – cut friction, confusion, duplication, or unnecessary steps from a workflow
Automate – find the steps technology can do without you
Don’t do it at all – just because it’s been done that way for forever doesn’t mean it still needs doing
Make yourself less necessary – Reduce the number of habitual but not-entirely-necessary offers to “be helpful;” avoid designing packages where you are a required aspect of the service
It bears repeating:
Time is not revenue.
Work is not revenue.
Clients are not revenue.
Revenue comes from value creation, captured through prices.
If you have a revenue problem, that’s a different problem.
If you have a time problem, consider the above.
